Define Categories

OBJECTIVE

The Define Categories function is used to classify catalogue items by categories. These categories can be used to search for an item, classify catalogue items or when taking physical inventory.

The method used to search for catalogue items must be by category or by classification. The classification method requires classifications to be configured with the Define Item Classifications option.

 

Steps

Create a category

1. Enter the required information:

The Configuration icon is used to define entry options for the Code field.

 

Field	Description
Category Code*	Code that identifies the category.
French Description	French description of the category.
English Description	English description of the category.
Parent Category Code	Used to create a hierarchy of categories with the parent category code being the highest category in a level, in relation to another. NOTES: No parent category code should be entered for a level 1 category. The system only displays possible categories based on already entered level configurations.

Fields followed by the * character are mandatory fields.

2. Click Save.
